Forefront Tennis provides high quality tennis instruction and education for adult and junior tennis players seeking to improve their games and health through tennis. Led by USPTA Elite Professional and Cardio Tennis-certified Coach Ray, our programs were developed over several years and represent innovative teaching techniques for beginners and intermediate adults and teens over 12 years of age based on their goals and prior playing experience.

Newbie Beginners are students who have literally never touched a racquet or only played a few times over the years and need to start from scratch. Newbies have 2 choices. 1) Students wanting a more social, less technical and fun way to start tennis can opt for Adult Red Ball tennis classes based on the USTA’s new pilot program that has you rallying within 10 minutes (designed to be as accessible as pickleball). 2) Those desiring to start on deeper technical development on standard-sized courts and racquets can start with the Early Beg Group Class. (NTRP 2.5 or lower)

Beginners with more regular experience rallying and playing over the years or Intermediates (NTRP 3.5 to 4.0), will find our Beg-Int Group Tennis Class most appealing.

This 4-week class is targeted for beginners (people that have never picked up a racquet or who cannot rally a ball consistently. This class starts from the beginning covering correct grips and proper stroke mechanics for the forehand and backhand. Volleys may also be covered if time permits based on class progress. The goal is to have students rallying at minimum with an orange ball (softer/slower ball) and if possible, with a green dot tennis ball (slightly slower than a regular tennis ball).

This class requires at least 4 people to sign up, and max’s out at 6.

This activity is presented by Berkeley Rec and scheduled to take place on Sundays 11/3-11/24 from 11:30a-12:30p at Strawberry Creek Park. For more information, click "Participate" to visit the website of Berkeley Rec.
