In order to participate in Seal Lessons, students MUST have passed the Lobster level AND be able to:

  • Streamline Freestyle with big arms, side breathing, and kicks for 10 yards
  • Backstroke arms with kicks for 15 yards
  • Streamline Breaststroke with kicks for 10 yards
  • Tread water for 30 seconds
  • Perform kneeling dive


In the Seal level, students continue to refine learned strokes and are introduced to breaststroke, sidestroke and flip turns. This course is taught in the 5-10 foot area of the pool.

The following skills must be met in order to pass the Seal level.

  • Comfortably swim Freestyle & Backstroke for 25 yards
  • Comfortably swim Breaststroke for 10 yards
  • Streamline front & back dolphin kick for 10 yards
  • Perform a standing dive
