Young Nature Explorers will leap into the exciting world of nature at the engaging and educational introductory AR programming camp. Students will learn with their own grade level group: Grades K-2, Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8, and Grades 9-12. This camp is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC).No prior computer knowledge is needed!Fun outdoor and indoor activities and plays are part of the camp experience.Indoor and outdoor play activities are part of the camp experience. As Young Nature Explorers, students will embark on an exploratory journey using Holographic AR to code, create and explore a variety of natural environments. Picture your child investigating the lush rainforests, roaming the vast savannas, or examining the intricate ecosystems of coral reefs. Each coding project is a gateway to these amazing natural landscapes.Students will learn to develop engaging Holographic AR experiences, focusing on coding for environments, transitions, and movements. They will also enhance their skills in crafting interactive stories that animate their virtual natural worlds. This one-week camp is a gateway for creativity, critical thinking, and foundational tech skills, empowering students to confidently create and shape the Holographic AR universe they build. They will learn Holographic AR design, logic and coding. They’ll learn the Design Thinking Process based on the Stanford University Design School curriculum and design Holographic AR experiences that include coding for stages, transitions, movements, and multiple branches, engage in interactive storytelling, and hone their problem-solving techniques— all in a fun and supportive environment. What’s the magic of Holographic AR Coding over traditional coding?Holographic AR coding combines the foundational aspects of traditional coding with an engaging, interactive experience. Similar to traditional coding, students will learn programming logic and how to sequentially transform their ideas into computer programs.Beyond these core skills, Holographic AR coding provides a magical learning experience. Students don’t just see their coding projects on a screen; they interact within the imaginative nature adventures they code. This interaction with a variety of animal worlds in the AR world is facilitated through a webcam, with no special equipment needed. This hands-on approach makes the learning experience more visual and interactive, bringing students' stories and creations vividly to life. In addition to coding, the program encourages designing interactive narratives and environments, fostering skills in storytelling and artistic design.Another key aspect for this age group is the emphasis on attention to detail and initial problem-solving. As children see the immediate effects of their coding, they become more engaged and eager to understand and improve their work. The hands-on activities encourage them to focus on details and develop their problem-solving skills as they learn to identify and fix issues in their programs. It's a process that teaches perseverance and adaptability, key for early learning and growth in technology.Students will learn the following:•Basic computer, keyboard, mouse, and Internet skills •Introductory Holographic AR concepts •Introductory Holographic AR logic •Introductory Holographic AR coding •Introductory visual communication •Interactive storytelling •Debugging and Problem-solving •Design thinking based on the Stanford University Design School Curriculum •Fun facts about the earth and nature world
