Join Sustainable Leaders in Action on Thursday, September 19th from 6:30 - 8:00 PM for the next Climate Careers Chat!
Register with your email to attend live- this is a virtual event. The Zoom meeting information will be sent to you prior to the event. The event will be closed captioned and recorded.
The Climate Careers Chats are interactive, quarterly events that feature a broad and diverse range of speakers from the California Bay Area and beyond. These free events aim to educate anyone interested in environment-related careers, from students to seasoned professionals.
This event will feature two panelists from the Environmental Resources field- these are the departments at a local and regional level whose work is focused solely on helping the community reduce its impact on the environment.
Environmental Sustainability and Resource Departments (their official name) work on initiatives that address:
Local Policies
Natural resource conservation (think Waste Reduction, Energy Efficiency, Water Conservation, Pollution Prevention)
Green programs and incentives for residents
And so much more!
Join SLIA in welcoming our two panelists: Cam Foley, a former Civic Spark Fellow for the City of Alameda, and Julie Haas-Wajdowicz (Haz-Why-doe vich), the City of Antioch's Environmental Resources Coordinator who will share their personal educational and career journeys with the audience and answer questions during the the live Q&A.
Cam Foley recently completed an Americorps CivicSpark fellowship working in the City of Alameda’s Sustainability Department. She graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2023 with a Cognitive Science B.A. and a minor in Ornamental Horticulture. Previously, Cam has worked as a gardener and spent a year volunteering on organic farms across the country through WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms).
Julie Haas-Wajdowicz (Haz-Why-doe vich) has been in the environmental outreach and education field for over 25 years. Since 2000, she has been the City of Antioch’s 1st Environmental Resources Coordinator, working to implement sustainability programs including water conservation, waste preventions and resource recovery and climate change mitigation & adaptation. Ms. Haas-Wajdowicz has a BA in Environmental Studies and Economics from UC Santa Barbara and is a Master Composter.
