Community Altar for Day of the Dead / Ofrenda Comunidad de Diá de Los Muertos
10/31-11/1
Thu-Fri, 12a-12a
Contra Costa County Library - Clayton

Day of the Dead is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November. It honors the lives of family members, friends, pets, and others who have passed away. During this time the dead are reunited with the living and fondly remembered. Families and communities commemorate the day by creating ofrendas, the Spanish word for offerings that colloquially is used to mean altar for Día de los Muertos.

We respectfully invite the community to participate in creating an altar by submitting photos of departed loved ones and pets on October 31st and November 1st. Include your name and phone number or email on the photo so that we can arrange to have them picked up by you after November 4th. Everyone is welcome to take part in and view the altar that will be on display through November 4th.

This activity is presented by Contra Costa County Library and scheduled to take place on Thursday Friday 10/31-11/1 from 12a-12a at Contra Costa County Library - Clayton. For more information, click "Participate" to visit the website of Contra Costa County Library.
