Printmaking - Fine Art Techniques - Homeschool Room

Hercules Library resident artist Chris Granillo joins us to share the art of printmaking! This class will be broken into two sections, leaving you with one printed art and one well inked pull print. One print from each edition will be donated to the library’s new Homeschool printmaking archive.

Printmaking at its most basic level involves the creation of a matrix (wood block, linoleum & monotype surfaces), inking that matrix and then transferring the ink to paper. Essential in printmaking is the production of multiples and repetition. This class will introduce several printmaking media and techniques including relief, monotype, and more. The focus is on fine art printmaking. All materials will be provided.

About Chris Granillo

Working across California for more than twenty years, I am a self-taught, fine and public artist whose work centers on capturing and honoring community resilience and ways of being. My application of surreal and abstract styles reflects the struggles of everyday life as local communities interact with their environment. I am experienced working in large scale, on canvas with oil and acrylic paints, and in making woodblock prints.
