Read to a Dog

Boost Reading Confidence with Furry Friends

Presented by Contra Costa County Library

Is your school-age child shy about their reading skills, or in need of some readaloud practice? Register today for a 15-minute session to build reading confidence with a therapy dog from Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Bring a book from home or choose from the library! Sign up at the front desk or by calling 925-516-5290. Read to a Dog occurs every last Saturday of each month. This program is organized by H.A.L.O. Angel Ears.

Drop-ins are welcome if space allows. Younger siblings can visit with dogs between sessions.

Alliance of Therapy Dogs is an international registry of certified therapy dog teams. ATD provides testing, certification, registration, support, and insurance for members who volunteer with their dogs in animal-assisted activities. ATD's objective is to form a network of caring individuals and their special dogs are willing to share smiles and joy with people, young and old alike.
