Introduction to wheel throwing. Class instruction will cover basic throwing skills. Advanced participants can work at their own pace. No production potters. Registration fees include clay, glaze, and use of studio equipment. Participants working on a larger scale, exceeding the allotted amount of clay, may be required to purchase additional clay at the studio. No outside clay may be used. No exceptions. Clay currently in use at the studio includes B-mix smooth, B-mix with grog, B-mixed with speckles, and Sierra Speckle. The studio also uses reclaimed clay. All work is fired in an electric kiln at cone 5. Participants are required to have their own set of tools before the first class session. Beginner 8-piece tool sets can be purchased online or in person at Clay Planet in Santa Clara. If you choose to purchase a set of tools at the studio, please emailĀ [email protected] before the start of class. Class size is very limited. Please sign up for only one class per session. If you cannot attend all classes, please consider enrolling in a future class instead. Generally, there are no makeup sessions for missed classes.
