Chess - For Children - Glenwood

We teach our students to focus and concentrate, to take their time, to observe carefully, to plan and think before they act on the chess board. We teach them to identify alternatives and to consider the pros and cons. We encourage patience and thoughtfulness. We teach our students to look beyond their own ideas and to consider others' plans and thoughts. We teach them how to learn from mistakes and to view and use mistakes as part of the learning process. The beauty of chess is that it stimulates children's minds and helps them build valuable life skills while they are engaged in an enjoyable activity.
