Join us to learn a practical way to create nutrient-rich, water-retentive raised beds using waste materials, ideal for sustainable gardening and temporary setups from Lori Caldwell. “Hügel” means “mound hill” in German, referring to the gardening technique hügelkultur. This method creates raised beds using organic “waste” materials, making it sustainable and efficient. Hügelkultur is perfect for renters as it can be set up temporarily. It starts with a base of logs or branches, topped with plant debris, compost, and soil. The decomposing wood retains moisture and enriches the soil, reducing the need for frequent watering and enhancing plant growth.
