An effective emergency plan considers the risks that you face, your ability to mitigate those risks, your ability to deal with the risk if it occurs and the ability to recover from the impact of the event. People deal with these tasks daily. You are probably careful when you pour yourself a cup of hot coffee. You know you might burn yourself so you pour carefully into a cup that will be cool enough to carry. You know where the dog is so you won’t trip and you know how to treat and heal from a burn. Have you done the mental work to be resilient when you need to deal with something more serious like an earthquake, fire or flood?
