Stop, Think, and Protect what matters by choosing the least toxic pest control alternative.
YardSmartMarin works to raise awareness and reduce the use of pesticides in Marin County.
It’s so fast and easy to spray pesky bugs – ants, aphids, flies and more – with toxic chemicals to get rid of them. But bug spray can be dangerous to wildlife, pets, the environment, even to your family. Bug spray may not discriminate and can harm or kill the beneficial creatures that keep your home and garden healthy, like bees and butterflies. Insects are the vital pollinators and recyclers of ecosystems and the base of food webs everywhere.
Marin residents understand that spraying toxic chemicals on the weeds in our yards is a quick fix but not the best long-term solution. By using alternative weeding techniques, we can remove a source of unhealthy chemicals throughout the County.
Stop – before taking any action.
Think – understand the problem you are trying to solve.
Protect – find solutions, starting with the least toxic method.
