Build on basic aquatic and water safety skills and concepts learned in Level 1. Most skills will be practiced with little to no support from the instructor. Greater emphasis on student independency in the water and performing skills. Participants continue to explore simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on the front and back to lay the foundation for future stroked. This level focuses on participants practicing skills independently.

In order to pass Level 2, children must be able to complete the following skills:
  • Enter and exit the water by stepping or jumping from the side.
  • Fully submerge and hold breath.
  • Complete a bob.
  • Open eyes under water and retrieve an object.
  • Front jellyfish float and front tuck float.
  • Front float, back float, front glide, and back glide.
  • Recover to a vertical position.
  • Roll from front to back and back to front.
  • Demonstrate treading water movement.
  • Change direction of swimming on front or back.
  • Finning arm action.
