TEEN ZINE CLUB!
Thursday, October 3rd @ Melrose Branch
3:30-4:30pm
Make your own zines at our monthly Teen Zine Club! Whether you're a regular zinester
or you've never heard of them before, this club is a chill space for
you to get creative, express yourself, and hang out with fellow zine
makers. Each
month, we'll offer a creative prompt (ex. current obsession, personal
stories, petty rant, poetry, etc.) or workshop a zine technique/approach
(ex. zine bindings, embroidered covers, digital design, etc.) to help
guide your zine-making, with examples pulled from our teen zine
collection.
We
provide all the materials: all kinds of paper, pens/markers, magazines
to cut up, folding tools, long arm stapler, paper trimmer, scanner, and
free photocopying/printing. All you need to bring is yourself and an
idea for a zine you want to make! No prior knowledge or experience
needed. For teens ages 13-18.

What's a zine? Pronounced "zeen,"
zines are DIY fanzines made by collaging text and art together to share
personal stories and interests often underrepresented by mainstream
media. The best thing about zines is that anyone can make them – they're
easy, cheap, and can explore literally any topic or theme. No rules, no
filters, no algorithm – just pure pre-internet vibes, made by you
because you love what you love.
