Protagonist, Antagonist, Love Interest, Mentor, Beast/ Sidekick and Multiplicity are the 6 archetype characters in stories we develop in this Videogame themed character design course. Each class is assigned an archetype and theme/videogame reference for study in design language to concept character art variants. Join in this all-levels art class and let’s embrace creativity and pushing fun art ideas in drafting original characters together. Videogame Characters/ franchise list include: Pokémon Legends, Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Brothers/ Smash Bros and so much more. All level artist alike will develop their drawing chops with guided art instructions using hand drawn templates that they create. These templates are: eyes & face variants, body proportions from 2 (Chibis/Funko Pops) to 9 ½ head proportions, dynamic poses, basic anatomy and a wide array of eclectic visual references. We develop original characters drafting unique worlds of realistic proportions and the design language of their respective video game franchise. “Anime a day…” is a fun all levels art class open to your creative and drawing interests. Explore the world of Japanese style cartooning and discover a different popular anime title every day/class. Continuing students apply previous character designs to Manga/ Comic page spread exercises and development. We take careful and easy guided steps to creating these anime worlds, as we build and develop templates through daily art notes using themes from a variety of our daily list of pop anime (Dragon Ball Z, My Hero Academia, Naruto, Demon Slayer and Pokémon, just to name a few.) You, the artist will “power up” and gain the knowledge and confidence to “level up” creating your very own “original characters.” Unleash your hidden potential” with an “anime a day!”

Intermediate artist can join in too and come sharpen your drawing chops! Explore and embrace alternative drawing techniques as you venture in a variety of popular Anime styles. You will develop compelling art work with concept, exploration and dynamic poses as you journey through with Gesture, Construction, Anatomy and Technique. You will gain the knowledge to draw correct proportional characters and basic anatomy to have you designing confidently what you envision.

Perfect for graduates of Foundation Art 1.A, this course focuses on drawing exercises and projects, emphasizing core art fundamentals like line, form, and color theory. Enjoy small class sizes for personalized instruction and bring required materials on the first day.

Long Description
Join us and continue the journey as we reveal your artistic potential. This course is designed for artists that began with the Foundation Art 1.A class and prepared to take the next step from introduction to application. In this continuation course, we will focus more on developing from the basics as we amp up on in-class drawing exercises and projects derived from the introductory syllabus. We will keep class size to a minimum to ensure the artists individual attention and careful guidance from the instructor at an even pace. Foundation Art 1.B’s goal is growth through drawing mileage while implementing the core fundamentals in art through the principals in line, form, space, value, perspective, composition, color theory. Please have all art materials available first day of class. (Please see registration for list of materials.)

Explore your artistic potential and unfold the sketchbook pages in this beginning foundational art class. This course is designed for those interested in art with little to no experience. We introduce the basic fundamentals in art exploring the principals in line, form, space, value, perspective, composition, color theory and much more. Young artists will have the opportunity to develop their drafting skills and gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to continue on their journey to visually express their hidden talents. Let’s fill these pages and embark on this artistic endeavor together. Please have all art materials available first day of class. (Please see registration for list of materials.)

Learn essential drawing and painting techniques in watercolor in combination with other media. Instructor provides step-by-step demonstrations for brushwork, texture techniques, light and shadow, and color scheme. Students will progress through elements of art to make stronger compositions, creating bright and vibrant watercolor paintings of still-life arrangements, wildlife, scenery, sea creatures, and much more. More subjects will be added based on the student's skills. Students are welcome to repeat the course, as all new projects are offered each term. $25 Material fees to be paid to instructor on first day of class.
