Community Actions Against Plastic Pollution

Just about everything in our lives includes plastics, from food and drink containers, to bags and clothing. More than half of all plastics ever produced have been made since 2000, and global plastic production is projected to quadruple by 2060. In the USA, nearly three quarters of all plastics we consume goes straight to the landfill, the highest rate in the world.

This an acute problem for us here in the Bay Area. There is less than 18 years remaining capacity in the current Bay Area landfills. Did you also know that 95% of the plastics we diligently place in our recycle bins go directly there, without any attempt to recycle them?
