Tardigrades can survive in any environment from the bottom of the Ocean to the vacuum of Space. The reason they survive is through a type of cryptobiosis called anhydrobiosis (without water), which is an interesting phenomena that scientists are trying to study to help preserve other living materials like blood samples and organ tissues. Our young scientists will learn how to create a detailed procedure, collect and analyze samples, write a report and contribute to a greater study of Tardigrades. Katherine is an experienced researcher and loves to teach science to folks of all ages.
