Overview: Shu Ren's summer camps are carefully designed for all levels of Mandarin language learners in a fun and engaging environment. Children will learn Mandarin through engaging, immersion-based, hands-on activities. No prior Mandarin skills are needed. The language instruction will be in Mandarin with English to support beginning Mandarin learners.Regular Camp hours: 8:30 am – 3:00 pmExtended Care hours: 7:30 am - 8:30 am, and 3:00 pm - 6:00 pmPreK Camp Themes (Berkeley Westbrae & Jefferson Campuses):Session 1: JUNE 17 TO JUNE 28 | Chinese Music Explorations | Introduction to learning Mandarin through Chinese songs, playing musical games, and making percussion instruments. This session of fun also features an experiential learning activity with the Chinese Dancers.Session 2: JULY 1 TO JULY 12 | Nature Explorations | Campers head out to the great outdoors and make colorful discoveries! Collected leaves, rocks, and flowers turn into works of art as children draw, paint, and craft their unique creations.Session 3: JULY 15 TO JULY 26 | Chinese Art Explorations | Take a journey with us! We’ll explore Chinese culture through traditional stories and hands-on art experiences. Campers will make a Chinese Culture Picture Book, flag, dragon, firework, bamboo scroll, and Chinese brush painting.Session 4: JULY 29 TO AUGUST 9 | Science Explorations | Cultivate a sense of wonder and creativity during this session! Inquiry is encouraged as campers engage in hands-on activities that explore scientific concepts.
