Children ages 8-11 are invited to the West Valley Branch Library to explore philosophical topics using children’s literature. The purpose of each session will be to explore a “big,” philosophical idea (such as, “what is bravery?” or “what is the nature of knowledge?”) and help participants gain some of the critical thinking skills employed by philosophers when investigating philosophical topics. No attempt will be made to persuade participants to adopt any particular viewpoint on the topics under discussion. Rather, the program’s focus will be on asking questions to encourage independent, critical thinking. Free. Pre-registration is required.
Please observe our Safety Guidelines.
To request an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act for library-sponsored events, please call 408-808-2355 or email [email protected] at least three business days prior to the event.
