Reading - One-on-One with Coach - Bascom Branch Library

Reading Buddies provides students in grades K-3 with an opportunity to improve their reading skills by working one-on-one with a reading coach. Reading Buddies creates a positive reading experience for beginning and developing readers and helps children build confidence as readers. Our reading coach, who is a teen volunteer,  will listen to children read and provide support in phonics, sight words, and comprehension. Students can bring their favorite book or choose from the available selection at the Bascom Branch Library to read aloud to their reading coach.

Free. Pre-registration not required. However, reading sessions are available on a first come, first served basis and the duration of reading sessions will be 15 minutes. (A little longer session may be permitted, provided there are no other participants). 

Participants can also use their session to read away their fines! Just inform your Reading Buddy (open to youth only).

Please note, that the Reading Buddies is a program to encourage young readers to practice their reading skills with a teen volunteer. (It is not intended as an hour long tutoring session.)
