Antonio Vivaldi - The Four Seasons
Astor Piazzolla - Four Seasons of Buenos Aires
Liana Bérubé, violin
Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, with its depictions of unique weather patterns, natural phenomena, and characteristic energy. Its four violin concertos vividly represent the passing of the seasons, with extraordinarily precise musical effects, including bird calls, the zephyr winds, a lonely dog barking, flowing brooks, thunderstorms complete with hail, and of course, happy merriment, and the contentment of humanity at one with nature.
We pair this masterpiece with a work by the master of the Tango - Astor Piazzolla, his Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. Tango and jazz are at the heart of this work, in a style that has come to be known as Nuevo Tango - and it pays cheeky homage to the Vivaldi original. This program will also be a tour de force for Liana - because she will perform 8 seasons, not four.
This activity is presented by Vallejo Symphony and scheduled to take place on Sunday 10/27 from 3p-5p at Empress Theatre, 330 Virginia St, Vallejo, CA. For more information, click "Participate" to visit the website of Vallejo Symphony.
